hey - this Dylan quote reminded me of you, Joe, and what I have always
thought was a key to your success and talent as a musician. I thought of
you before I even finished the first sentence.
"An artist has got to be careful never really to arrive at a place when
he thinks he's at somewhere. You always have to realize that you're
constantly in a state of becoming. As long as you can stay in that
realm, you'll sort of be all right."
I remember feeling amused that you never settled in a spot where you
thought you'd reached perfection as a guitarist. I, naturally, thought
you'd reached it long ago. I came to admire this in you.
So there you have it.
